Craft projects......
Well, I haven't blogged in a while. Mainly because I really don't think I have much thats interesting to others. Since I only have one follower (and I know who you are) I guess it doesn't matter! HAHA! Anyway, I thought I would share my most recent craft project. I am the craft organizer for our local MOPS group which means I have to come up with crafts every month that 50+ ladies get to enjoy. This month I chose resin coasters however, I could only find a few sets of directions on the net that described how to use resin and make the coasters. All the directions mentioned costly products to make the resin coasters so I pretty much had to make up my own. I first set out to find a round disk that would be the base for the coaster. After looking at several craft stores it came to me. The lids of ball jars! At 1.50 per doz I felt that I could afford enough for two per person and remember there are 50+ ladies. I then had to seek out the resin. Not knowing how much each coaster was gonna use I looked for the biggest container Michaels had a 32oz container for 29.99 for which I had a 50% off coupon. Yay! I also picked up some little decorations to add to the assortment of goodies I have for decorating the coasters. Each person was asked to bring two pictures, which they could use or not use according to their personal creativity. I also wanted to save money on the waterproofing part so instead of Modge Podge I used Elmer's glue. I started with a piece of fabric and glued it to the ball jar lid I then glued the pictures and some stickers to the fabric and coated it with Elmer's Glue. After letting it dry for an hour I mixed the resin in a baby food jar 1oz to 1oz. I stirred until the resin was well mixed and began applying it to the base. It dried over night and voila, Resin Coasters!

HOT!
Its been to hot and our AC doesn't work very well. Georgia is hell on earth. I was sent here to learn tolerance and Im failing miserably. I can't stand the heat. I can honestly say that I hate Georgia. We have had some great times here though. Some wonderful things have happened but I still hate Georgia.
With all that said despite the heat this weekend we had a wonderful time. We took the boys fishing and they each caught their own fish. The next day we took them bowling. It was wonderful.....and HOT!

can't sleep....
Im a bit moody. Not exactly sure why because Ive had some really great days lately. This weekend was awesome! Although I wish it had been longer, but hey, who doesn't. Saturday, Geoff and the kids and I ran around town. We started out with hair cuts for the boys. Evan got his first professional cut. Mostly because daddy jacked up his mop trying to trim it. It was getting so long and in his face. Now he is trim and handsome just like big brother. Ian loves hair cuts, always has. After their hair cuts we ran up to Richmond Hill and had lunch at Molly Mcphersons a scottish pub that for some surprising reason neither Geoff nor I have ever been to. The food was great. After that we went to Renegades and ordered Geoff a new helmet. Its black with american flag flames. I looked at helmets but didn't find anything. Im so not a pink girl! Maybe I should be. I so envy pink girls! Its as if they are never sad. After Renegades we made our way back to Hinesville and ran to Walmart and Lowes. Once we got back and the boys were awake from their naps we jumped in the pool while Geoff did some things around the house. Finally finished the edging on the flower bed. For dinner I had set aside some steak but it wasn't thawed so I decided to just run and get 5.00 pizzas from Little Caesars. Not the greatest but everyone was happy. Evan had his first toddler meal. He loves them. He is so done with pureed foods. This kid wants to grow up faster then he should. Sunday was my day to work. I got a couple things done. Geoff and the boys swam. I better stop procrastinating cause I have a lot of jobs to complete. Then Ian and I went to Jenn's to baby sit. Tara was having some health issues and had to back out of babysitting so I filled in. Ever the dutiful friend. Well, I think the valium I took to counter act my over intake of caffeine has kicked in. Better hit the hay!

Girls Night Out (aka toe job)!
Most of the time, well, at least since the deployment began I have felt a bit out of place. The fact that my hubby isn't deployed with the rest of the girls' hubbys occasionally makes me the odd man out. Last night was not one of these occasions however! The Y sponsors a Parents Night Out once or twice a month and last night was the first time that I partook. Ian went to the Y to play with his buddies Tyler and Xander and I went to Snazzys for a pedicure with the rest of the girls. We had such a great time chatting and learning new things about each other. It was a really great evening. Not once did I feel out of place or not worthy because my hubby wasn't deployed. We were 11 girls having fun. I had four leaf clovers painted on my toes....thought it was appropriate.

Invasion of the body snatchers.....
Ok, so maybe not body snatchers but they could be. Fire ants are a menace to the human population and should never have been created! Ian, Evan and I were swimming out back for an hour or so and when we came in the house I started getting bit by ants! Why are there fire ants in my house you say? It all started the night before at Ian's birthday party. I believe that one person brought a cup in from outside covered in ants. One of those ants fell off found some food and took it back to the colony. The colony decided to invade. They waited and waited till there was an opportunity, like me going in and out getting the boys situated. The sliding glass door doesn't shut easily anyway so there was a crack just enough for the ants to get through. So while we were playing in the pool they invaded. The biggest draw was that one of the kids had dropped icing between the love seat and the toys. So when I walked in with Evan in tow and Ian following behind me and stepped in their path they attacked. Ive got three bits on my right foot, one on my left foot then I bent down to try killing them and vacuuming them up and got bit twice on my right shin once on my left shin and three times on my left fore finger. So needless to say typing isn't easy right at the moment!!! I itch and I hurt and I can't take benadryl because Im at home with the boys. Yesterday I had to take benadryl. Maybe you haven't heard but I am deathly allergic to ant bites!! In '07 I went through a painful series of shots to desensitize myself from the fire ant bite. I believe that fire ants know who is allergic and seek them out of a crowd to chow down on! So my allergic reaction is mild compared to what it used to be thanks to those shots. If I hadn't had those shots before yesterday Im not sure I would be here today! With as many bites as I got I don't think I would have made it to the hospital. Thankfully Geoff came rushing home from work and helped me clean up and kill the ants. Who knew that Breake Clean would kill fire ants!!!
Last night we celebrated Kim Watson's birthday at the Isle of Hope Marina where she works. Despite the rain and my benadryl coma we had a really great time. It was very beautiful there. Im exhausted though. I felt horrible cause I was so out of it yesterday after the ant episode I didn't bring anything to the "pot luck" and I didn't even get Kim a gift! Although she got a Toy Story fishing pole for Ian so that he could fish at the marina!! He didn't get to fish because of the rain and lightening but still! I wouldn't know what to even get Kim. She is the girl that has everything! I don't even think making her something would solve the problem....what would I make her? Oh well. It was strange day in my mundane world!!

Ian's 3rd birthday party
Although Ian's birthday isn't till Tuesday we celebrated his 3rd today! It was suppose to be a pool party, which we did get into the pool for about 30 min before a storm came up and ruined our fun. Although I wouldn't say ruined, we ate pizza and did presents and cake and the kids played. So much fun was had by all. But, now, Im exhausted. So, I don't think Im gonna get much written. Besides I need to go spend some time with my hubby before its midnight!
